Under the old Access, I created custom menu bars. Under Access 2008, I imported all my application and database files into a new application, using Access's file extension.

However, I cannot find the custom menu bars that I created and imported from the earlier Access.

Can I assume that either they were converted into custom "ribbons" and I simply cannot find them; or I have to start over and create custom ribbon bars from scratch?

You wil find your custom menu on the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon.

This might help:
How do I get my existing legacy menu bars and toolbars to work in Access
2007?
